About Myself
Okay so I’ve put this about me thing off long enough. I honestly do not like summing myself up, but we’ll give it a go so you know who you’re talking to. Lets have a little question and answer session shall we?
“Where are you from?”
I was a military brat. I have lived in 24 states and 8 countries. So I really hate that question “where are you from?” as it implies that you grew up somewhere in order to be from there. I didn’t. I grew up everywhere. So I don’t really have a from.
“Who are you today?”
Today I’m a full time college student, I work two part time jobs, I’m a dog owner, a volunteer, hopefully a good friend, an activist, educator, and out spoken son of a bitch who happens to be a good man.
“What are you going to college for?”
A future. A life. Hope. Money? No, I’m in college for ITP which is the Interpreter Training Program. Interpretation ASL to English. Its something that fascinates me. However, I am also considering majoring in Psychology and working with Deaf Transgender people and Hearing Transgender people.
“What kind of activism do you do?”
Sign petitions. Go to equal rights conferences and committee meetings with local politicians. Some public protests. Played a dead person for a protest against violence on the Day of Silence. I apparently rock at laying on the ground in the rain. There are a number of LGBT groups and activist groups I try to keep in touch with and attend the meetings of. I volunteer for Deaf Events such as Deaf World and SSP retreat. I try to educate on Trans issues. I host Trans* Success a trans positive educational tumblr that promotes positive image. I do a lot of research for the T community. And I’m in the midst of writing an article on Deaf Trans Men, Mental Health and the Role of Interpreters.
“Anything else you want to add?”
