Deaf Trans Men, Psychology and the Role of Interpreters
So that is the title of my paper that I’ve been writing for the last 5 months. A massive research article. It’s done, I turned it in to my teacher, she gave it back to me today. I got a 190 out 200 on it. Which is great. But she asked to speak to me about it after class. She wants to work with me on my paper to tweak a few minor things and then with my permission, she wishes to submit it to the RID Journal of Interpreters to educate current and new uprising interpreters. The paper covers the following, in no particular order at the moment cause I’m recalling it off the top of my head:

Trans Male Statistics
Though 77% of trans men proceeded with hormone treatment. Of all surveyed trans guys, 63% received ‘top surgery’ to create a masculine chest and 28% stated that they would have partaken of chest surgery if given the finances (that is a 91% that desire top surgery). Perhaps the most interesting statistic is that of all of the trans men surveyed, none had undergone sex reassignment surgery (SRS) to create a penis, however, only 31% expressed disinterest. The lack of ‘bottom surgery’ (SRS) is likely due in part to the astronomical price of 30-100 thousand dollars for the procedure and the poor results.

Why This Is Important
A number of clubs in Europe will offer a stage in March and April to an “artist” who calls for the murder of LGBT people. It is time to speak up again and to call for a boycott of these events and their sponsors. Several clubs invited the singer Sizzla, who uses his songs to encourage the murder of homosexuals:

Perhaps it’s conspicuous that to date few journals have dwelled on the current ethical drama currently undergoing in Berlin, Germany involving an eleven year old child who was born a boy but whom in their own words wishes to re assert themselves as a female. Something that they have felt since they can remember, according to one report earlier this year. That though now may be wishful thinking in the face of a recent court decision that in essence seeks to mandate that the child be placed in institutional care and one suspects have their sense of self ‘normalized.’
The above link is a petition to stop this child from being put into an institute until she conforms to gender=sex ideals. If you want to read more on this article, there are two stories. Original and Updated. This child’s petition only has 10K signatures. Come on people, lets get involved. No trans child should have to be snatched from a supportive mother and locked away in a padded cell until they conform.

This article is a scholarly research done on FTMs “Quality of Life” over emotional, mental, physical, etc well being in comparison to the cisgender population, and the effects of testosterone treatment on that QOL. The findings are very interesting and prove that testosterone treatment greatly improves the quality of life and the mental health and well being of trans men and suggests that tguys need greater access to medical attention in a timely fashion.
