“Spring Spring Spring” yep… it’s that time of year.
Oh the barnyard is busy, in a regular tizzy, And the obvious reason, is because of the season, ah nature’s lyrical, with her yearly miracle, spring, spring, spring.
Every field wears a bonnet, with some spring daisies on it, even birds of a feather, show their clothes off together, sun’s getting shinery, to spotlight the finery, spring, spring spring.
So for those that asked me, this is what we learned in class for ASl 101, 102, 201 and 202 should be. The 301 and 302 might be included in this. The page you will view begins you with 101. Simply follow the unit chapters and each thing under the unit. Video and text instructions demonstrate exactly how you are supposed to be using the signs. A great resource for anyone in ASL class to help them along or for anyone wanting to learn who can’t afford it. To move on from ASL 101 and 102, click the link at the bottom of the page for ASL Online 2. This is an online version of the books I’m paying for in college. Yay for you.
I was watching Bo Burnham and man he’s interesting. But I’m not a religious person much, let alone of the Catholic faith so this song caught me off guard and I was curious what he meant by the line:
“Winos at the Eucharist station, trans-gendered-substantiation”.
At first I thought “substantiation is to support with proof or evidence; verify: substantiate an accusation; To give material form to; embody; To make firm or solid; To give substance to; make real or actual.” And I was like well, wtf does that have to do with transgender people, is he mocking us or… something else? What is he trying to say. Apparently you have to be of Catholic faith to grab that one. Cause I went and looked it up and I found this on RapGenius:
Winos, or alcoholics, attend church services in order to drink the consecrated wine which Catholics believe to be the blood of Christ. In Roman Catholic theology, transubstantiation is the term for the change of bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Bo thwarts Catholicism by entwining this ceremony with transsexualism, an idea which the Catholic church does not accept (“trans-gendered-substantiation”)
ASL interpretation. While its not artistic, I enjoy how crisp he is and how he chooses to sign certain things. Interesting.
“Gravity” by Sara Bareilles ASL ABC style interpretation by KmkLined. Beautiful. Bravo.
Alessandro Moreschi singing Ave Maria, the recording is more than 100 years old, on antiquated technology that has poor sound quality, and Alessandro is more than 50 years old and past his prime at the time of this recording. However, its still impressive and Alessandro is the only traditional castrato to be recorded singing.
I’m posting this again. She really deserves it. One of the most amazing voices! Its hard enough to sing in one set of keys, but wow. The crowd reaction alone at 1 minute in is amazing. Incredibly inspirational! This happened this year, 2011.
Bell Nuntrita!! If you haven’t watched this video, DO! This singer has phenomenal vocal control. This is her audition to Thailand’s Got Talent. Even if its not a kind of song you prefer, hang in there because at about one minute in you’ll see her lower the mic and look away for a second before she shocks the crowd. The crowd’s reactions alone are great. Just amazing voice. Watch the video, love her, adore her voice, and READ MORE! Its so worth the view.
